Katarina Church Cemetery Stockholm vagamundo361When I was in Stockholm this summer, I went were I had wanted to go to last year already: visiting and strolling over Södermalm Island.

While walking back to the port I crossed a park which turned out to be a graveyard. I do not know the name of the park or cemetery, but I found the name of the church located of the other side of the park from where I went in: Katarina church.

The cemetery was opened for the victims after the Stockholm Bloodbath in 1520 (Wikipedia in German is informing better than the English version).

An unexpected and unintended cemetery visit, while I walked through that more-park-than-graveyard place on a nice sunny day in Sweden´s capital.

One of the graves along the path I took caught my attention, I don´t know why. It turned out to be a special one. A big tragedy happened to this Carlström family and their relatives. All five family members died from the Tsunami on Khao Lak on Christmas 26.12.2004.

Speaking of the Carlströms, the eldest daughter, Camilla, was actually one of my big sister’s best friends at school.
